Last night between II and V p.m. I was in High-street, \ heard a woman screaming in front of (lie Police Court The prisoners had hold of a woman, tliev were trying to drag her up Chanccry-slrJol. i remonstrated with thorn and told them I a constable ; Maddigan said he knew it antl struck me on the side of tho head. I tried to apprehend him. Dawson came to his assistance caught me by the beard, and whilst 1 was down kicked me twice. Fined each £5 and costs, 'or to be imprisoned one mouth with hard labour.
