The Chaibkak, in opening tho proceeding*, made two propositions; tho fir»t whs to have a bonfire on Mount Wellington on the aight of the day H.tf.H. arrives. Ihie proposition was carried unanimously. The Chairman secondly proposed , , that H.B.H. pass through the district and fowo, two triumphal archer should be erected, one at the entrance of the villige, and the other on the bridge. Hβ suggested also that the f ettlore in the dietmt, as many as cocld find it conTouient, shonld come mounted to receive the I'ske- of Edinburgh, and further, that the ladies of thu settlement and eur- I rounding district be also invited to come on hore - I baoV. The Panmure and H owick Cavalry should be requested to be in attendance to escort Hi* Boysl Highness from Parmuro to Howiotr, Theeo nuegettioas appeared to find very general favour , wiih the | assemblage, and being embodied in the form of resolutions vera cauied unanimoufly. The CHiIBKAN, in reply to quceriors pnt to him a3 to the propriety of presenting ah address to tie Duke of Edinburgh, thought it would te superfluous, and that his Boyal Highness would have sufficient addiesjes presented before coming to that neighbourhood. Be thought that a large attendance of •ettiers and ladies from remote parts of the district to be present to meet him on pasting through would be &s graceful Sβ a compliment ns would be pnid to the ion of Her 5/ajeoty ; and the triumphal arches and preparations that would be made would convince him taht the absence of an address was not the leeult of egligence so mmh as to consult the Prince's convenience. A subscription list wee then opened, and funds were at once forthcoming to carry out the arnmgfemenU as suggested by tbe Chairman. The procaedings she-wed that should Hig J?oynl Highness comotdii way in quest of partridire-ihoot-ing or other sport, he will a have aright hearty and lojil -welcome from the inhabitants of Fμmure and ittrreondirg neighbourhood.
