MEETING OF SUPERINTENDENT'S OF
SUNDAY-SCHOOLS. Last evening a nicotine: of Superintendents of Bundiy-schools was mid in the school-room attached to St. itaithnw's Church, for the purpose of receiving the report of the delegates who hud been appointed to colloct subscriptions towards refreshment for tho children who will assemb e Using the National Anthem upon tho arrival of the Duke of Kdinburghat Government J-Touse. The Vi>n. Archdeacon Lloyd, being in attendance, was called to the chair. The minutes of the previous meetins wore read and confirmed. \ Mr. Taylor announced that he and Mr. Buddie hid collected £17 la. 6d ; Mr. Spragc; (Newton), £i 153 ; Messrs. Peacock and ohera, (City Kast), £17 135.; Messrs. Gibbons and Mackay, (Freeman's Bay), £5 ISs. 6d. ; -Messrs. Atkins and Stoen, (Wake-Field-street), £6 10s.; Messrs. Tinne and Arthur, £4 17s. The following subscriptions, the result of private collections, were also annonncecl : Mr. Champtaloup, £2 4s 3d; Mr. Trerjaaiiio, £2; Mr. Brume, £1 lh. Total, £59. The iIECRETAirr announced that tenders had been invited for the cake and oranges. The cake would be supplied by Messrs. Caloy and Woodford, viz., 1,300 lbs. of cake, at 6d a pound; and 6,000 oranges, at 7d a dozen. The expenditure, therefore, according to this estimate, would be £47 Is BJ. The SeCBEtaBY said thero was a small balance, but he thought it would be necessary to employ some help in distributing the refreshments. A letter was read frem Colonel Blliot, who felt great pleasure in acceding to the request of the deputation to allow the children to be assembled for refreshment in the barracks. Ho recommended application to the quarter-master who would placo at the dUpi sil of the teaohera any unoccupied hut they might select. A vote of thanks was passed to Colonel Elliot for his kindness iu acceding co the request of the committee. Several tentlornen informed tho meeting that the Reception ComrniU-jo intended to (>ive £20. The bicBEXABY said, as thoy had a balanco in hand, that circumstance might have an influence upon the final decision of tho deception Comtnictec. Various mattoro of detail were discussed as to the disposition of surplus, if any; of tho manner of marshalling iu tho children, and drawing them off for refreshment. A vote of thanks was passed to tho Chairman, and tho proceedings concluded.
