NORTHERN ELECTORAL DISTRICT.
To the Editor of the Herald. Sib, —A few weeks ago you allowed me to mention the desirability of dividing the Northern Division. Sinco than a select committee has sat, and reported in favour of a general ro-arraneement of the electoral divisions, but has not offered a bill for the purpose ; consequently thero is Ounger of the subject being postponed indefinitely. If lam rightly informed, the re-division of tho Southern portion of the Province was the difficulty before which tho committc quailed. The difficulties in tho " Southern " need not prevent a short bill being pußscd, if the Council is agreeable, to improve the Northern Division, and c nstitute live districts out of it. They would adjust easily. Say Ist, Mount Albert ; 2nd, Norili shore; 3rd, Weiti & Orews : 4th,Mahurangi & Matabanu ; sth, the Scattored o ....uments on the Western side. Such a bill might be pa?spd in three sittings, if there in no covert opposition, as there is none avowed —I am, &c. A Northern Elector. February Bth, 1869.
