(y<tOM A CORRESPONDENT.). A meeting of the inhabitants of this district was held on Saturday night, to concider its position in regard to the native excitement at the present timo. There are many gcattered settlements here at present not in a proper state of defence, and without organization. A resolution was passed requesting the Government to declare thiß a militia district. It ii to be hopedithis will be. speedily done, and alt the ablebodied settlerß armed, formed into companies, and drilled, so that should the worst come to the worst, th«y will not be liable to be attacked unprepared.
