NATIVE LANDS COURT.
"WEDNESDAY, OOTOBEB 7. (3efore F. D. Fenkoh, Esq., Native Judge, 'and. Hsnaßß Xa Pukuatua, Assessor.) At the Native Lands Court yesterday the old disputed question of right of possession of the well known valuable Native Lands licserve Block at Orakei, came on for hearing. Mr. MacCormick, who appeared for Aphai Te Kawau of th j Ngatiwatua, said that he should beg leave to withdraw the name of Paoro Tuehara from the auit. Mr. Gillies, who appeared for Hoberaka Takapuna of the Ngatihana, said that in Such case he should ask fjr an adjournment. Mr. M.ackay, moreover, who was an important witness in the case, was absent. Mr J. B. liussell, who appeared with Mr. Sheehan for Tau'arl", Kara, ani Waka of the of Kaipava, said that ho should concur in the decision of the Court as tc an adjournment. Hui Tauhoa, Ahipfeue Kaihau and another appeared to watch the proceedings for iherasalvcs. Mr. MacCormick opposed an adjournment, chiefly on the ground that his main witness, Aphia To Kawau, was of such extreme age that his life was uncertain from day to day. . Finally, however, it was agreed that in cnse of the decease of the old man his previous evidence on the Question should be taken, Mr. Gillie* having stated that, in case of a non-adjournment, ho should appeal to the Governor in Council for a new hearing, and the case was adjourned until Tuesday, the 20th instact. - POLICE COURT WEDS3SDAY.
