She left Nelson on Thursday last with 112 passengsrs, and returned on Sunday night, haying baen absent only eighty hours, including a detention of twentyfour, hours at tho Manukau.—Nelson Examiner, September 29.

A Ship Capbizbd.—A Bomowhat remarkablo occurrence took place nt Millwall, on Thursday, July 2. A largo iron-built ship, called tho. Conflict, 1,190 tons register, has for some time been in Messrs. Carter's dry dock, undergoing painting and' repairs, preparatory to taking out emigrants for the Government to Australia. On Thursday, at highwater, preparations were made for towing tho vessel out into tho river, and a steam-tug had a tow-ropo secured to the ship for that purpose. She towed her out absut forty feet over the cells of tho dockgate, when the Bliip showed signs of being top-heavy. She gave a great list to siarboard, and all of a sudden eho capsized, and fell with a great, crash on the side of the dook, while the yards drove through the roofs of the workshods on tho quay. Fortunately the riggers on board the vessel escaped without injury, as also did tho workpeople connected with the yard. The force with which the vessel came down on the edge of the quay waß so groat as to stavo in some of her plates, whon tho vessel immediately filled with water, and settled down in the dock on her beam ends, apparently a wreck. GaDgs of labourers wero immediately employed to unrig the ship of her yards and upper spars, so as to lighten her; and as the tido went down workmen. could get to tho stoveplates in the bilge to poccli the holes up, and make tha ship buoyant. At the next flood tho ship floated, and she was hauled back into the dock, whore she was subsequently, by removing her ballast and strains put on her masts, brought upright; but it is needless to say that the ship is supposed to have been much strained, beside the damage to her starboard Bido. It is said that the causo of her capsizing was substituting 250 tons of coal instead of 200 tons of Btone, the coal having been shot ia formed a pyramid in tho centre of the vessel, and allowed to remain in that condition without precautions being taken to trim it. The result was, that when the ship commonco 1 moving the ooals.shot down the starboard side, and thus caused her to capsize. It is fortunately tho casualty occurred in the dock; for, had it happened in the liver, the vessel would have be6n totally wrecked.
