WHEREAS, by an Act of the Imperial Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, passed in the session thereof holden in the fifteenth and sixteenth years of the Beign of Her present Majesty Queen Yictoria, intituled" An Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand," it was amongst other things enacted, that for each of the Provinces established in the said Colony by the said Act, there should be a Superintendent and a Provincial Council, to he elected and constituted, under and subject to the provisions in that behalf therein contained, and that it should be lawful for the Superintendent of any of the said Provinces, to prorogue the Proviucial Council thereof from time to time whenever he should deem it expedient so to do : Now, therefore, I, Jcux Wtliiamsojt, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland (one of the Provinces aforesaid), do proclaim and declare that I do hereby, in pursuance of the power vested in me in that b)half by the said Act, prorogue the Provincial Council of the said Province of Auckland, aid that the said Provincial Council is pDrogued accordingly. Griven under my hand, anc issued under the public seal of the said Province, at Auckland, in the Province aforesaid, this tlird day of July, in the year of oir Lord one thousand eight limnied and sixty-eight. By John Williamson, Es[U?re, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland. > WHEREAS by " The Supcrintcncent's Deputy Act, 186(5," of the General Assembly, it is enacted that it glial be lawful for the Superintendent ol' anyProvinee, by proclamation, to be publiskd m the Government Gazette of such Protince, to appoint such person as he may thiix fit, being an inhabitant of such Proviuce, and being registered as an elector on the elecoral roll of some electoral district within uch Province, to be his Deputy, and as sua to do, perform, and exercise all the sets, powers, and authorities which may be dine, performed, or exerciscd by such Superinendent, or such of them only as shall, be specified in such proclamation: Now therefore J , John Williamson, Sujerintendent of the Province of Auckland, do hereby appoint

Now, therefore, I, Jons "Williamson,; the Superintendent aforesaid, in pursuance of the powers and authority enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare! that the said before recited Act, namely 1 "The Sick and Destitute Act, IS6'B" shall: be and become in operation within the Province of Auckland from and after the date hereof.
