A public meeting of the settlers in thi3 district was held in the school house last night to take into consideration the propriety of making arrangements for the erection of a flour mill; and as all are interested in the affair, there was a pretty good turn out on the occasion, although the weather whs very unpropitious. Mr. John Bain was unanimously called to the ohair. It was considered desirable (ncni con) to have a flour mill in the district, and as there are several places said to be suitable for a site, in so far as water accommodation is concerned, a committee, consisting, of Messrs. G-. ilunro, A. Cochrane, J. Ryburn, W. H. Thorp, and R. Bain, was appointed to examine the various sites, confer with the owners of the properties in which they are situated, to ascertain on ■what terms they could be obtained, and report to a public meeting to be held on the 4th proximo. After a vote of thanks to the Chairman the meeting dispersed.
