Jack, arrived in harbour on Saturday evening, after a good run of seven days from Sydney, bringing the English mail yia and a full general csrgo, also about twenty saloon and steerage passensers. The Kgmont cleared Sydney iieids at H a.m. of the 2lst instant, rounded the North Cape at noon of the 2"th, and arrived at Auckland at 5.30 p.m. on the 23th. Experienced strong S.E. winds and confused sea for the first two days, :\v.d moderate variable wind-, with head sea and thick hazy weather, the remainder of the passage. In consequence of the thick weather or Friday night was compelled to run half-speed with the engines. We have to thank Captain Jack for files of Sydney papers and other favors. The steamers Enterprise and Tauranga arrived from tile Thames on Saturday evening, with passengers. Both, vessels leave again for the Thames to-day. The Novelty.—The Circular Saw liner Novelty, Oapt. Nearing, was loading for Auckland when the Egnoont left Sydney on the 21ts inet., and was to sail about the 27th inet. The p.s. Sturt left the "Wynyard Pier yesterday morning, with, despatches for Sir Q. Grey, and several passengers. She may be expected back this •vening. The Spey returned from Tapu Creek yesterday evening at 6 p.m., making the run up in the short space of five hours. (She leaves again this evening, and being a regular trader, offers a good opportunity for passengers, visitors, and shippers of cargo. The barque Harriet Armytage, Captain McMaator, arrived at Newcastle from' Auckland on the 16th icetant. The ship Racehorse was the only vessel on berth for Auckland when the English mail left. liAukch.—A new steamer, the Duke of Edinburgh was launched from the yards of Messrs. Duthie and Boss, on Saturday morning. Owing to the pressure on our space, we are compelled to hold over our account of the launch until to-morrow. The Ironsides. — The ship Ironsides, Capain BTedley, arrived at London from Auckland, on the 15th January, after a tedious passage of Ll7 daye.
