ARRIVAL OF THE ASPASIA. This fine vessel, in command of Captain William Lamb, arrived in lmrbour oarly yesterday morning, after a most successful voyage to tho Fiji Islands, bringing about 15,000 oranges and a small quantity of original cargo. Major Hill is the only passenger by her. The Aspasia sailed from Auckland on Monday, the 27th January, at 9 p.m., with a moderate breeze from the northward. Roached the Poor Knights on the 29th, whero the vessel was bccrlme-1. During the evening had light winds from the S.E., and on tho following day the Poor Knights bore W. £ N., from which tho vossel took her departure. The breeze began to freshen from the same quarter, and the first reefs were taken in. The wind continued to increase, and Captain Lamb made the best of his way off the land, tho barometer standing as high as 30 ° 40'. The wind gradually increased untH it reached a perfect gale, aud the vessel had to be hove-to for three days, the gale finishing at W.N.W. With the exception of shipping one sea, which Fplit tho foresail and capsized tho galley, the Aspasia behaved remarkably well. Every attention was paid to the pumps, but no water could be found. On the 3rd February the wind moderated, and continued from the northward and westward for several days. Had fine weather during the remainder of the passage, and anchored at Ovalau on the evening

of the 13th, after a splendid run of nine days from the New Zealand coast. Whilst at Ovalau rode out a heary gale from the S.B. to N.W., during which the eohoonor Sea Witch, of Sydney, parted her cables and got on the reef, where she would in all probability break i.p. The Auckland schooner Blue Bell, Captain Mcljiver, arrived at Ovalau on the 12th Februa'.y, and reported having lost mainsail in a gale off Lord Howe's Island, when on her passage from Sydnoy to the Pijia. She had been supplied with a "make-shifc" one by an American vessel. Captain MoLiver stated that he intended to cruise among the islands of the Fiji group. Having discharged cargo and shipped a quantity of fruit, the Aspasia left Rewa rivor, GreatFiji,on the morning of Sunday, the Bth instant, with a light brooze from the N.E. Had fino weather up to the 17th inßtant, when a heavy galo was met with from the south, and during which the ship was hove-to for 30 hour 3. From tlionco had fino woather until Bighting Moko Hinoa and Little Barrier, at 4 p.m. on the 24th, and arrived in harbour at 6 a.m. yesterday. The missionary ship John Williams, the Sydney schooner Sea Witch, and the Auckland schooner Dot, worj lying at Ovalau when the Aspaßia arrived thoro. STRANDING OF THE SEA WITCH. Tho schooner Aspasia, from the Fiji Islands, bringß intelligence of the loss of tho schooner Sea Witch, a voasel belonging to Sydnoy. On the 17th instant, a heavy gale from S.E. to IT.W. visited Rewa, doing considerable damage ashore, and causing the destruction of the above schoonor, which was lying in company with tho Blue Bell, undor the mef. The whole of tho crew were saved, and subsequently ondeavoured to .float the vessel off the reef, but without success, and she ultimatoly brolco up. The Blue Bell fortunately rode out the galo without sustaining any damago. COLLISION BETWEEN THE JANE AND SAUOY LA.SS. The schoonot Jane, which arrivod from Tauranga yesterday, reports being in collision with the schooner Saucy Lass, early on tho morning of Wednesday last. It appoars that tho night was very dark and hazy, and neither of tho vessels wero burning lights. At I*3o a.m. on Thursday morning, tlie Jane was lying close on the wind, off Mann Bock, the wind being N. by S., and nothing was seen of the Saucy Lass until tho collision occurred. Tho Saucy Lass, which was sailing with a fair wind, struck tho Jane on tho port bow, carrying away bulwarks, covoring boards and head gear. Tho Saucy Lass also suffered considerable damage by having her head gear and a portion of her bulwarks carried away. Both vesaols proceeded to Mercury Bay, and having ascertained tho done, the Jane left for Auckland at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, leaving the Saucy Lass in the Bay. ——_ ! NAUROW ESCAPE OP TEE BLUE BELL. By tho arrival of tho schooner Aspasia from tho Fiji Islands, yestord iy, we havo received the following lettor fiom Captain McLiver, of the Auckland schooner Bluo Bell, from which it will be seen sho had a narrow escape from boing wrecked, whilst on her passage from Sydney to the Fijis :— " Rewa, 21st February, 1868.—Tho Blue Bell arrived at liown, Fiji, on the 12lb Februaiy, after a vory boistoroua passago, having lost tho greater part of her canvas in a gale of wind. Sho was compelled to run in tha gale for eighteen hours before the wind, expocting every moment to founder, but sho protod herself to be a good sea boat and weathered it out. After the gale had subsided, wo spoko an American man-o'-war from New York, bound to Japan, which provided uB with sails and other necessary assistance, thereby enabling us to continue on our voyage to Fiji Islands. All well on board.—John McLiver, master, Bluo Bell." SEIZURE AND STRANDING OF TELE SCHOONER DOT. Tho Auckland fore-and-aft schooner Dot, which left the Great Barrier several months since, was seizod by tho Consul at Ovalau (ono of the Fiji groups), in consequence of tho master being unable to produce a clearance from any of the New Zealand ports. The vessel was subsequently sold and purchased by two settlers at Fiji for a sum of £150. She then loadod for Auckland and sailed from Rewa on the 3rd instant with 20 bales cotton, 7 tons sweet potatoes, aDd 20,000 oranges, but before leaving the mouth of the river sho unfortunately touched on the rock bar, where she remained for two days. On tho sth instant tho vessol floated, and, thinking she was all right, tho master proceeded on his voyage to Auckland. Before sho was many hours at sea, however, it was discovered that there was a considerable quantity of water in the hold. The whole of the oranges and a quantity of sweet potatoes had been thrown overboard. Favoured by a good wind, and the hands being constantly employed at the pump, the vessel was kept afloat, and succeeded in reaching Rewa safely on tho 7th inßtant. Had the breeze been unfavourable there is every reason to believe tho vessol would havo foundered at sea. The schooners Kenilworth, for Nongodo 5 Sea Breeze, for Russell; and cutters Miranda, for Wangarei, Horo for Wangarei, and Sea Flower, for Wangapoa, all cleared at the Customs yesterday, and will tako their doparture at tho first opportunity.

The Cutters Sumter and Henhy.—The race between these two vessels from the Breakwater to Shortlarid Town, for £10 a-aido, was 'won by the former vessel. The s.h. Star of the South will Bteam for Napier and Hokitika this morning. The Jane.—The schooner Jane, Captain Moller, arrived in harbour yesterday afternoon with a few empties, one piano, and four passengers. She left Tauranga on Monday night, and early on Wednesday morning was run into by tho Saucy Lass. Kan into Mtrcury Bay to repair the damage, and left again on Wednesday night, arriving in port at 4. p.m. Bho reports the cutter Don loading timber at Mercury Bay, to sail for Auckland on Friday.
