WAIUKU.
(iHOU <K"E OWN COBBESrONDENT.) March 9. At present most persons are very busy getting in the remains of their harvest. The potatoes are, I am huppy to say, almost universally turning out splendidly, both-in quality and quantity. Bush burning has commenced and is progressing. On Wednesday last, the 4th, the Volunteers had a. shooting match with carbines for three prizes which were carried off by Mr. 0. Barriball (Ist), Mr. J. T. Mellsop (2nd), Mr. Hedge (3rd). The shooting generally was not up to tho average. There promises to be plenty of work for the sportsmen this season, aB pheasants and wild duck abound. Tho Waiuku Literary Association holds its annual meeting on Wednesday next, to elect officers and arrange for the coming season. Intending members will find it a good opportunity of joining.
