AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET.
JIK. ALrSID BUCKIiAND'e WBEKIiY ESSOEX. On Saturday last fodder was not so abundant as usual. Meadow hay was rather lower in price. Oaten hay, particularly in small lots, was in request, and brought relatively high prices. Oats, 3s 9d; ryegrass seed, 4s 3d to 5s 3d; cocksfoot seed, 7s 6d to 10b the bushel. Many horses were eold, but the prices were low, and the bidders without animation, excepting for young compact draught horses. Those were in request, and brought from £1& 10s to £25 each. On Tuesday very few stock were offered at the Triangle. The ewe lambs brought 15s each. On "Wednesday, at Papiikurn, there was a large muster of cattJe, and a very numerous attendance. Prices were well sustained throughout, and all cattle offered were sold. The sheep were withdrawn. At Remuera, on Thursday, there were not many dairy or store cattle penned. Fat cattle were in usual supply. Cattle of nil descriptions sold at better prices than for the past month. The demand for the Thames gold-field ie considerably increasing, and young cattle in large numbers are being purchased for the Waikato. In the sheep market a few pene of stores, and about the usual supply of fat sheep, were
offered. Prices were lower than last week, particularly tor lambs, which offered relatively iu largenumbers. MBSBBS. W. HITNTEE AITP CO-'S WEEKLY REPORT. On Saturday last there were 54 horses entered for sale, out of which 41 were sold. Thorough-bred mare Bold for £26 ; draught horses are Belling better than of late ; some good hacks sold from £8 10s to £9. On Monday last there was a large number of cattle in ; store cattle are rather dull of sale; 2-year old steers from £4 2s 6d to £5 5s j 3-year. old steers from £5 5s lo £7; 2-year old heifere from £3 17s 6d to £5, yearlinae from £2 10s to £3 3s; calves from £1 Hβ to £2 3s; working bullocks from £8 17s 6d to £10 5s ; dry cowe from £3 15s to £6 each; dairy cows from £8 10s to £12 each; fat cattle were plentiful, and a?ld from 303 to 35b per 100 lbs. Sheep market. —There was a large number of sheep and lamhs; half-breds from 16s to 203 j lambs from 12a 6d to 14s 9d ; some Southdown ewes sold for 35s each; fome Southdown ewe hoggets 25s each; a few half-bred ewes sold for 15s 6d each. Pig market. —All in were sold at good pricee. Otahuhu Sale.—There were very few cattle; all in were sold. Fapahura Market. —There were about 90 head of cattle, chiefly young stock, nearly all were sold; dairy cowe sold well, they eold from £9 to £12 ; 2-year old eteers from £3 17s 6d to £5 12s 6d ; yearlings from. £2 7s 6d to £3 ; calves from £1 15s to £2 ; 2-year old heifers from £4 to £6 each; some fat sheep sold for 16s each; some pigs eold at fuUy Newmarket rates.
