NOTICE. WHEREAS information has been received by me that several persons have illegally "jumped" or taken possession of certain Gold Mining Claims within the proclaimed Gold Field in the Hauraki or Thames. District, and, for.whioh proceedings the following reasons are assigned, viz.:—' ' -.- let. That in coneequeneo df-ihe' decision of the Supreme Court,- that I am npt a Judge of the "Warden's Court) and that there ha? been no "Warden's Court constituted for the said -District there is no law in force within the said Gold Field, and that none can be enforced, 2nd. That certain Miners' Eights signed by me are invalid, • „ ■■. I hereby give notice to those persons whom it may concern, that by section 108 of " The Gold Fields Act, 1866," it is enaoted as follows:— .. " 106. All proceedings for any infringements in any Gold Field of the provisions, of this Act, or of any rules or regulations "made in pursuance hereof, shall, if there be any Court constituted under this Act for such Gold Fields, be had s*jd taken, in such Court, and, if there be no such Court, then before a xtesident Magistrate or Justice of the Peace, according to the law for the time being in force for regulating summary proceedings before Justices of the Peace." With respect to the signature of.-.Miners' Rights, the Gold Fields Regulations eot forth that those documents shall be issued by the Warden ; but, by section 4 of " The Gold. Fields Act," any person authorised by the Governor can issue the same. Fending the 1 result of an appeal which will be made against the decision of the Supreme Court in the case Kowe v. Maokay, the Resident Magistrate's Court j for the Hauraki or Thames District Bitting at Shortland will be able to adjudicate in all matters of dispute relating to gold mining, except partnership questions. ,- •; , ~ • . All persons who have illegally taken possession of claims must give up the same forthwith to the lawful owners thereof; or they-will .bo iprosecuted with the utmost rigour of the law.
