FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

A NT7MEBOT7SLY attended meeting of the various Friendly Societies was held at tlie Odd Fellows' Hall yesterday, in consequence of an advertisement which appeared in the daily papers, signed John Ogilvie, Honorary Secretary .Royal Beception Committee. Mr. Leahy was appointed Chairman, and Mr. Dekbosi Secretary, when the following resolutions were agreed to: — That notwithstanding that we disagree as to the manner in which we have been invited by advertisement, signei John Ogilvie, Hon. Secretary, to participate in the demonstration for the reception of His Excellency Sir George F. Bowen, on his arrival in Auckland, we agree to assist in the proposed demonstration. That the officers of the various Friendly Societies be requested to cause a notice to be issued, calling upon the members of eaoh Society to attend at the Government House, and assist in the reception of the Governor. That Messrs. Lewis, French, Mason, Hogg, "Leahy, Seabrook, and Derrom, be a deputation to attend on behalf of the various Friendly Societies at the meeting of the Koyal Reception 'Jommittee on this afternoon. That the Society be requested to forward a copy of the several resolutions to his Honor the Superintendent, Chairman of the Royal .Reception Committee. A vote of thanks was accorded to the Chaiesian, after which the meeting broke up.
