The weathor was not very favourable, which accounted for so few visitors attending. On the days of the previous matches the Barrack. Square presented quite a lively and animatod appearance from the attendance of so many ladies, who always inspire spirit into the players and add much to the interest of the game. There was one circumstance
which wo especially remarked, and'nTaUuding to it we hope tho Students wj'l excuse us, because we. hopo to eeo them often contesting with other oluba on tho Barrack Oreen, in this, the manliest of English games. We allude to the umisual style of fielding, with their hands in ' -their pockets ■ or "a-liimbo" during tbe whole day ; tho weather was certainly rather cold, but it did not look like cricketing, and •wo observed ttvo or three pusy . catol. ;s miaaed ond several runs obtained by their opponents which attentive fielding would have pfevontsd : their playing, otherwise, was very creditable and resulted' again in a victory, although with only one run over tlie number scored by the Blue Jackets. Wo had sincerely hoped that the sailors would have won thi» match, as they have hitherto been so unfortunate, but notwithstanding this, they are always " up to time" to their duty, lose cheerfully; and we heartily wish them " better ltiok next time."
