The s.s. Midge, Captain Stuart, returned from tho Kaueranga Gold Fields last evening, -with about 40 patißengers. Sho left Auckland on Tuesday at 10 a.m. and made, a capital run down of 65 hours, liemained at Kaueranga till 3 p.m. yesterday, when steam was got up, and she proceeded to Auckland, arriving off the wharf at 9'o'clock; after a smart run of 6 hours. The Midge leaves for the diggings again at 11 o'clock this morning. ARRIVAL OF THE SAUCY LASS. The clipper schooner Saucy I,ass, Oaotain D. H. McKenzie, arrired in. port yesterday morning, from Napier via East Coast, with a cargo of 1500 bushels maize, four pigs, and 14 passengers for the Kaueranga diggings. She left Napier last the 20th inst., aft ll cjn. with a £.S.£. wind and a heavy bar on. Experienced light and variable winds till Saturday. Passed Portland Island at 4a. m- and rounded the East Capo nt 10 a.m. on Saturday, wind S.TS. Anchored at Raukokcri on Sunday, and on Monday loaded with maize. Sailed again at 7 p.m. and had NJE. winds ali the -way up with .heavy rain, arriving here at 10 a.m. yesterday. Eeports passing the eotb r Miranda off Hicks Bay on Sunday last bound South. She schooner Merriman was the only vessel at Napier. She was to sail on Saturday for Poverty
The Pbotcess Azice.—The brig Princess Alice, Captain Kiddey, took her departure from Kennedy's Bay for Melbourne, on Monday last, with a fillL cargo of sami timber and three passengers. She has probably been detained at "Wellington for the Panama snail. • The Stab op the South.—Captain McKenzie, of tba schooner Saucy Lass, ieporis that the s.s. In all probability she will leave for fitisßell this evening with cargo and passengers. The .Flying Buck, Captain Brown, has cleared at the Customs, and will sail for Melbourne to-day. The cutters Woodstock and Kate both arrived at Kennedy's Bay on Sunday last. The former was loading for Auckland when the Bob Boy sailed. The Tvanhok.—The schooner Xvanhoe, Captain McGregor, returned from Mongonui yesterday afternoon; with 18 head of cattle, which were landed at Kohjmarama on Tuesday evening. She left Mongonui on Friday last at 12 o'clock, and experienced light windsandcnJms until.Tuesday evening. She brings up two passengers. The only vessel at Mongonui when the Ivanhoe sailed was the schooner Victoria. • < The cutter Hero, which, has recently been placed on the Wangarei trade, has had her cabin enlarged lor tae convenience of passengers.
