To tho Editor of the New Zealand HEBitD. Sib, —In your issue of Friday, wo find amongst the shipping news, you state the now end to screw shaft of 8.8. Midge was manufactured by Vickory and Masefield of tho Pliconix foundry ; the Evening I H tries further inconrectly corrects you by stating it [ was done by Messrs. Fraser and Tinno of the Phoenix foundry. This shaft was repaired at the Albert Iron foundry, and when completed, Captain Stewart of tho s.s. Midge wa3 much pleased with the workmanship, and the short time that our men were in completing the job.-—We aro, &c. " Masbfibed and Co. To the Editor of the New Zealakd Hbbaxd. Sib, —The public will !bo pleased to be informed that the Great Barrier Copper Mines are going ahead muoh more satisfactorily than of late, especially when it is . considered how few hands are now omployed, at such reduced expense : in proportion to tho ore now obtained. Had not Mr. Allom drawn in tho reinß the expense would have beon much larger.—l am, &c., : ALookeb-On. JulyilO, 1867. P.B.—During tho last two months thero has been more ore raised in proportion to labour employed than in six months past.
