NATIVE FIGHT NEAR WAIMATE.
7 NATIYB3 KILLISD—MANY WOUNDED. :
FURTHER . HOSTILITIES PENDING. (fbom orris own cobbbspondent.)
- July 12. The Sea Breeze is just off, arid I have only just time to write you a few lines. • News has juat come in that the natives I told you of in my last as likely to come to blows, near tha__Woimate, and through the exertions of the R. M. 'for the district, had separated and gone to thbir kaingas, had re-asaemblod and had a skirmish, killing seven—three on Wi Katene's side, and four on Piripi . Korongahi's—besides several wounded. Amongst thobilled are Renata Kawaua, from Oromahoe; Uaioha, Te Maura; and the wounded,; Peiie Whare Oneone, and Ruatara, a son-in-law of old Kawiti.
As they have made such a'beginning thero is no knowing where it will end, as all tho relations of the dead ihen will, I suppose, go in for "utu " for thoir friends; The pieoe of land in dispute is only about 411 acres, though, I believe, valuable.
