THE COUNTESS RUSSELL. Tie fins ship Countess Bussell, Captain Stuart, having completed her fittings for troops, was inspected yesterday by Captain Spain (Admiralty Transpoit Cfficoj),Bnd aboard of other ofßcers,"when everything was found to bo of first-class description, and general satisfaction expressed by "all. The fittings, the work of Mr. Anderson, contractor, are of the most superior description, and, we think, surpass that of any ti-o°p-oi>; p tbat im? yet iern this port; this, together with the noblo 'tween decks and most ample accommodation of the ship, classes her as the most superior appointed ship that could have been chosen for the conveyance home of the Military Trair. The baggage is all on board, and the men •will embark alongside the wharf either on Saturday or Monday next, and the ship will sail the following day. The Countess Russell is a noblo ship of 965 tons register, almost new, having been built at Quebec in 1861, and is owned by Messrs. Lidgett and Sons, of London, the same owners as the favourite ships • Mary Shepherd, John Scott, Queen of the North, and others that have visited our port. She is built of the very best material, classed A 1 at Lloyds, and possesses the most noble 'tween deck accommodation of any vessel that has yet conveyed troops from this port, they being 9 foet in height, X 63 feet in length, and 34 feet beam ; thev are also •well ventilated with Edmond's patent, and can easily accommodate 400 souls. The saloon is spacious, airy, well fitted np, and comprises 16 cabins, capable of accommodating 40 persons. In addition to all the conveniences and capabilities, the Countess Bussell has on board a patent steam purchase to heave anchor, &c., and do almost all the hardest necessary work of the ship, also a first-class condensing apparatus which makeß an an average from 400 to SCO gallons of fresh water per d ; em, in fact, upon trial yesterday, it condensed at the rate of 700 gallons in the twenty-four hours. Hitherto the Countess Bussell has always been employed in carrying troops between England and India and back, so desirable a vessel was she found to be for that service, but her last trip was to Dunedin with 1800 tons cargo and a full complement of passengers, when she made a most rapid passage out, and we hope will be followed by an equally favorable one home with our gallant Military Train. The ship Ironside, Captain Hedley, will enter inat the Custom-house to-day, from London. The cutter G-nzelle, Captain Jaggar, arrived in har--10 nAnf r y ' from J .
