REV. P. H. CORNFORD'S LECTURE.

To the Bev. P. H. Cobjtfobd, per favor of the New Zbaiahd HEBALD.

Siß, —Allow me to thank you, not only on my own behalf and that of many of my congregation, but also of my brethren generally, for the able, eloquent, and instructive lecture delivered by you on " The Hebrew Nation," and repeated (by request) by you. The charitable, kindly, and truthful feelings contained therein do you great credit as a minister and a k worthy man, and indeed are well worthy ot imitation by the ministers and leaders of other Churches, not to omit a large number of laymen to whom charity that knoweth no evil is not always practised as it should be. AUow me to assure Mr. Cornford that his kind feelings are fully reciprocated by all real Jews, for to be such his heart must be free from all ill-feeling towards every man, to he Christian, Turk, or aught else. The skill and talent displayed by you in your resoarchoa reflects the highest credit 5 and that you have been the first minister in Aucklan d to endeavour to destroy vulgar prejudices showß that God has blessed you with that Divine feeling which sees in all [mankind " a brother."—Tours truly, MOSE3 EIiKIN.

i June 19, 5627. j p. S.—l must not omit to tender our kind thankß to His Honor the Superintendent for presiding on both occßßionß of this lecture, and for the kind sentiments expressed by him towards the Hebrew nation generally, and the memberß of the Hebrew faith in this city particularly. M. E.
