(BeforoThos. Beckham, Esq., R.M.) DIUJNICENNESS. Sarah Dobson was punishod for this offenco. DESERTERS. John Gardiner and John Bott, pleaded guilty to being deserters from H.M. 12th llcgiment and wcro handed over to tho military authorities. NON-PAYMENT 01? CITY RATES. Tho following persons were summoned by J. W. Oiddams, collector to the City Board, for non-payment of city rates ; Mr Wynn appearing for the Board. Joseph Senior, £3 los, wood building in Short-street; W. & A. Kennedy, £4 3s 'id, wood building iu Queen-street ; H. Sims, £8 6s Sd, brick building in Quccnstrcoi; P. S. Mackenzie, building in Wake-field-strect, £1 3s <ld, and for a brick building in Queen-street, £8 Cs Sd ; E. Mills £5. Scrvice of tho summons having been proved in each case, and the particulars stated by tho Collector, his Honor ordered the amounts to be paid with costs. ASSAULT. Thomas Clarke pleaded guilty to having assaulted Mary Richardson on Sunday tho 19th Maj'. Complainant who appeared in Court with several blows upon heriaee, on being questioned by his Worship as to the circumstances, stated that the defendant came to her house and complained about her little boy. Thereupon complainant recommended him to mind his own business, when defendant retorted by boasting his ability to beat both her and tho child. Complainant then went away with her child and the man followed and beat them. Defendant stated in justification that ho had struck the womau in self-defence. His Worship ordered him to pay a fine of3os and the costs, or to be imprisoned for ten days. This concluded the business.
