NEW ZEALAND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The monthly meeting of the New Zealand Agricultural Society was held on Tuesday last at the Criterion Hotel, Otahuhu. After the cliair had been taken and the minutes of the preceding meeting read and confirmed, Mr. Belbt moved, and Mr. I. Coopee seconded, That Mr. Aitkin, the printer, be^ requested 'to forward a proof of his own design of a certificate suitable to bo given as prizes at the late show of agricultural produce held at Otahuhu, to be laid before the next monthly meeting ; also that the committee appointed endeavour to obtain other suitable designs.' Mr. Selt.y gave notice that, at the next monthly meeting, he should propose that a ploughing match be held as heretofore, and that a committee be formed to carry it out. Sir. A. Martin gave notice that, at the next monthly meeting, lie should propose that the New Zealand Agricultural Society give a premium for a prize essay to the following question,

Viz. : — " Can the Agricultural Interests of the Province of Auckland. prosper without an Import Duty on Foreign Grain, Cattle, &e." The meeting tlien terminated.
