WELLINGTON.
Our correspondent's letter, which we received yesterday, contains the important intelligence that papers have been laid on the table of the House, containing a correspondence between the Superintendent of Auckland, Mr. Wliitaker, and the Colonial Secretary, in. which, the former abandons the idea of the proposed quarter ot a million loau for Auckland, aud offers to hand back to the General Government the control and management of the confiscated lands.
