Has two boilers specially adapted for the use of Australian coal, and her consumption is thereby considerably decrw* l -• Her saloon is very spacious, being 7Qft. long, fitted with polished British oak handsomely embellished, and as regards ventilation and comfort is not surpassed by any steamer in the colonies, an d is capable of carrying 76 first-class passengers, together with a ladies' cabin, fitted up for 10 passengers. The steerage is roomy and very lofty, being eight feet in the clear between the decks, and is well ventilated, and c.Qntains every convenience. It contains a special saloon for ladies, accommodating 37 in number, whilst the open cabin in licensed to carry 114 adults. ' Making a total licensing capacity in this steamer of 370 passengers. j The ' South Australian' is also one of the best cargo ships of her tonnage, being equal to 800 tons of weight p.nd measurement on a draught of 13ft. 6in.; 'this is exclnsiye' of 130 tons of cqal carried in bunkers. The houses on deck are especially kept apart for the officers and engineers of the steamer, and are ample for their requirements. | The steamer is fitted up with two steam winches for_ discharging cargo, worked separate from tihe j main boiler," andhas also distilling apparatus, capable of producing 1000 gallons per day.
