The Rob Roy.—A report was circulated through town yesterday to the effect that the ship Rob Roy, Captain Sangster, which left here for Callao on Saturday afternoon last, had gono ashore at the Little Barrier during the gale on Sunday last, and become a total wreck. We have to stato, however, that after communicating with the Customs' authorities, and making every enquiry from our coasting fleet that hai arrived during the last few days, no foundation could ba found for the report, and wo thorefore put it down for an ill-founded and malicious hoai. The ship Norwood, CaptHin Bristow, entered outwards at the Custom-house yesterday for Guam, and will sail shortly. The barque Lombard, Captiin Patterson, hiving discharoed her cargo of cattle at tho I'amaki came up harbour yesterday morning, and will leave ag-iin for Gladstone, Queensland, in a fow days. She has gone on the hard in Official Bay for overhaul, &c. The Kate Waters and Helen S. Page, for Queensland, also sail to-day.
The schooner Ivanhoe, for Mongonui, sailed last evening with a general cargo and several passengers. The schooner General Cameron, Captain Whealer, cleared at the Custoni3 yesterday fjr Russell, and sails to-day at 11 o'clock. The N Z.S.N. Co.'s s.s. Wo'lington, Captain Renner, sailed at 2 p.m yesterday for the South via Tauranga, with a general cargo and 20 passengers. The p.s. Tasmanian Maid is due from Wargarei to-daj, and will ler.ve fjr Coromandel to-morrow. The schooners Black Hawk, for Canterbury ; William and Julia, for Wellington ; and cutter Smujgler, fjr Waugarei and Mangapai, all sailed yesterday. The barque Constance, Captain Elliott, tooV her departure yesterday aft.trnonn for San Francisco with a carg" of coal and some 15 passeug-u'S. The Ship Matoika.—From a private letter, received from London by a gentloman in Auckland, we learn tint the fine ship Mato.tka, in command of our old acquaintance, Captain Baiuett, had been laid on for this port, and at the date of last advices had just completed disch trying her inward cargo. The Matoaka was last in our harbour about two years since. H.M.S. 5 . Brisk, Captain Hope, took her departure at 230 p.m. yesterday,' tor Sydney, via Norfolk Island. She wiil be docked and overhauled at Sylney. Farewell cheers were exchanged with H.M.3.3. Cungoa and Eclipse as the vessel got under weigh. The barque Alice Cameron, Captain Nearing, sailed last evening fir Briibine with 93 men, 0 women, and 12 children of the 50th Regiment; also, the following officers: —Capt. Creagh (in command), Lieut. Rolleston, Ensign Hunt, imd Assistint-sur-geon M'Shane. From Brisb-me, the Alice Cmi iron proceeds on to Sydney, for which part she takes u small cargo. The cutters Aquila, from Wangarei, with 30 tons coal; Hero and Janet Grav, from Mercury Bay with sawn timber, all entered inwards at the Customhouse yeeterdsy.
