[PIIOK OTJtt OWN" COBEBSPONDBNT. ] March Ist, 1866. The members of tho Wangaroi Crickot Club who left here for the purpose of playing the mateh with tho Bay of Islands Club, returned on the 23rd ultimo, having gained the victory over their antagonists with 9 wiclteta to go down. By this mateh they have regained their lost laurels. The salo of tho Btock-in-trado at Mr. McLaughlin's store, by Mr. Bigg, excited a good deal of intorest. It commenced on the 23rd inst, ond ended on the 27th, the prices realised on the whole wero fair, considering tho times. Tho nomination for a fit and proper person to ropresont the County of Marsden in tho House of Representatives took place at the Native School House on the 26th, as por notice. Two gentlewon only wore nominated, Messrs. J. W. Taylor and Hull, Mr. Mnnro having retired from the contest a short time previously. J. W. Taylor, Esq, was proposed by Sir O. Gibbes, and seconded by J. Bcdtini ton, Esq., Mr. Hull of Mongawai being proposed by Mr. Eraser of Waipu, and seconded by Mr. Smith of Mangawai. The show of hands wua in favour of J. W. Taylor, Esq., but a poll being demanded by M.r. Eraser on bohalf of Mr. Hull, tho sth of March being the day notified for the same, will settle the question as to who will be the successful candidate. Last Saturday two vessels, the ICauri, schooner, and tho Smuggler, cutter, were loading with coal for A.uokland. The cutter Don also came up in ballast from town for the same purpose. The coal trade bids fair to become an important item in thA business ofWangaroi, and when the nearly completed tramway Bhall have been flnifhed it will afford greater faoilitios for 1< ading vessels, while the quality of the , coal improving will as doubt inoi'ep.ao ths demand to* iti '
