First prize £5, second prize £2 10s. Short course to be decided on the day. ENTRANCE NIGHT: —FRTDAY NIGHT, from 7 to 10 o'clock. RULES. I. No post entry allowed except for vessels or boats not in port in time to enter. 2. Time allowances on tonnage as shown by following measurement. Take length on deck from fore part of stem to after part cf stern post; from -which deduct extreme breadth (exclusivo of belts or mouldings) ; multiply this product by the extreme breadth as above, and again by half the breadth, and divide by 94 for ton n ago. 3. Entries for trading vessels to bo on the registered tonnago. Yachts as per Rule No. 2. Timo for tonnage : from 5 tons upwards, 15 seconds per ton ; under 5 tons, 15 seconds per half-ton . Vessels above 50 tons no? to allow more timo than for 50 tons. 4. No sailing vossel will be allowed to use oara, paddles, or poles; nor take in nor throw out ballast after starting ; water to be fresh, and to be examiued on coming in, at the discretion of tho Umpire. No scoops allowed to wet tho sails after Btarting5. A gun will be fired and flags hoisted at 8 a.m. on board the Flag-ship on the morning of the Regatta. If not hoisted, tho Regatta will he postponed until the following day. The Committee reservo to themselves the power to postpone the Regatta should the weather be unfavouaable. 6. Each boat or sailing vessel in tho matches to carry a distinguishing flag not less than two feet in fly and eighteen inches in the hoist, which must bo kept flying at the main ; flag for pulling boats to be not lesß than one foot square, and carried at the bows. 7. Sailing vessels to bo anchored in aline; to start with all canvas down, and to sail with fore-and-aft canvas only. S. Trading Vessels from 20 to 45 tons are permitted to carry square-sails. Licensed but "Unregistered Cargo Boats to sail with working canvas only—gafftopsail added. P. There will be no restriction as to canvas (provided it be fore and aft) in any raco unless specially noticed in foregoing rule. 10. A ball will be hoisted at the main-yard-arm, 15 minutes before each race as a signal for takihg positions. Mnryatt's signal flag or flags corresponding with the number of the race on the Programme will be hoisted below the ball. Each race will be started by '.he firing of a gun from tho Flag-ship, aud droppii; ; tho hall and numeral flags. 3 1.
