MILITARY AMATEUR THEATICALS.
The Amateurs of tho Military Train gave a performance last evening at tho Princo of Wales Theatre, in aid of the funds of tho Soldiers' Daughters Home. The pieces were felicitously [elected, affording more Bcopo for spontaneity than artistic working out of detail. There is always something about an amateur performance that compensates for tho ali-onco of -t.Lja: business. There is certainly more individuality than one is accustomed to, and the vigor of tho catastrophe derives 110 aid from previous arrangoment The fulfilment of dramatic justice is ccrtainlvemphatic. Tho lirct piece was Jessy A r cre, which is a very simple story of a mesalliance, in which Mr. W. Walters, Military Train, impersonated the clergyman Joshua Vere, Idr. ■!. Butler, M.T., and Mr J Steele, C.S.C., impersonated as well " made-up" a pair of stage villains as could bo desired. Mr. F. Bleasby, 68th, as Jacob Thorn?, played very effeetiv«!y ; and Mr. Buck, M.T., would havo been a most gentlemanly scoundrel, were it not for tho obtrusive but tonholes, which made people think he was ashamed of himself, which a stage villain ought never to be. The second piece was tho "Loan of a Lover," by Sir. McLure, 2nd Battalion, 1-tth Mr. Field, Mr. Kirbv, C.tS.C., which was fairly gotthrough. Tho " Omnibus" was the concluding pioco, and was played e/l'oetively, if laughter is a test of kiicccss. J. Steele, C.S.C., deserves a word of (special mention as Pat Rooncy. Tho intellectual appropriation was vory appaivnt. The whole iffair passed oil' well. To-night the naval amateurs will give a theatrical entertainment in aid of the funds of tho Seaman and Marines Orphan Horn ).
