First priz ' £u, second prize £2 10s. Short courso to bo decided on tho day. ENTRANCE NIGHTFRIDAY NIGHT, from 7 to 10 o'clock. BULES. I. No post entry allowed except for vessels or boats not in port in time to enter. 2. Time allowances on tonnage as shewn by following measurement. Tako length on fleck from foro part of stem to after parte f stern post; from which deduct extreme breadth (exclusive of bolts or mouldings) ,- multiply this product by tho extreme breadth as above, and again by half the breadth, and divide by 94 for tonnage. 3. Entries for trading vessels to bo on the registered tonnage. Jachts as per Rulo No. 2. Timo for tonnage : from .5 tons upwards. 1.5 seconds per ton ; under .5 tons, 15 seconds per linlf-ton . Vessels abovo 50 tons not to allow more time than for 50 tons. 4. No sailing vessel will he allowed to use, oars, paddles, or poles ; nor tako in nor throw out ballast after starting ; water to bo fresh, and to be examiued on coming in, at the discretion of the Umpire. No scoops allowed to wet the sails after startin"5. A gun will be tired and Hags hoisted^at 8 a.m. on hoard tho Flag-ship on tho morning of the Regatta. If not hoistod, the Regatta will be postponed until tho following day. The Committee reservo to themselves the power to postpone tho Begatta should tho weather ho unfavouaable. 6. Each boat or sailing vessel in tho matches to carry a distinguishing Aug not less thin two feet in fly and eighteen inches in the hoist, which mu»t bo kept Hying at the main ; fla z for pulling boats to bo not loss than one foot square, and carried at the bOWB. 7. Sailing vessels to bo anchored in aline; to start with all canvas down, and to sail with fore-and-aft canvas only. 8. Licensed but unregistered cargo boats to sail with working canvas only—gaff topsail added. 9. There will be no restriction as to canvas in any race, unless specially noticee in foregoing Rule. 10. A ball will be hoistod at the main-yard-arm, 15 minutes before each race as a signal for takihg positions. Maryatt's signal flag or Hags corresponding with the number of the race on the Programrno will be hoisted below the ball. Each race will be started by the firing of a gun from tho Flag-ship, aud dropping the ball and numeral flags. 11. The first gun to be fired from the Fag-ship at 9-30 a.m., to prepare for tho firtt race. 12. A gong will bo struck to rccal tho boats in the event of an unfair efcirt. 13. Three boats or vessels must atari in every race.
