CRICKET.

The match which we announced to be played between an Eleven of tho Mount Hobson C.C. and an Elevon of tho Eldon C.C was commenced on Saturday last on the ground of the former club, which is situate at the foot of Mount Hobson, in tho Collegeroad, Remuera. Shortly after tho commencement of the game a thick drizzly rain began to fall, which so interfered with the players, that the umpires deemed it advisable to desist for a while, and all took shelter beneath tho quickset hedge which encloses the ground. On the first cessation of rain tho game was resumed, but had not been proceeded with many minutes when tho distillation became bo copious that it was considered prudont to postpone the match to a future day, to be hereafter arranged. Accordingly it was resolved to dispose of the creature comforts which had been liberally provided for tho occasion, and beneath tho protection from tho weather afforded by a haystack in an adjoining field the said comforts became small by degrees and beautifully less. We regret the necessity which exist d to abruptly terminate the match, as much curiosity was felt with respect to the issue, and only hopo that an early day will bo fixed for the renewal of the Struggle.
