CUSTOMS NOTICE.
The following appears in the 3 tic Zealnni Gazette of the 9th instant :— ■' Duty having been paid upon the following articles by various merchants and importers in the colony, under protest, the Commissioner of Customs directs it to be notified to the several collectors and sub-collectors that they may refund the duty on all articles classed under the sub-section No. II- of section 111., of ' The New Customs Duties Act, ISO!.' retaining the duties collected under all other sub-sections. '• The classification of goods under the protests received at this olllce since the publication of the last notice in Oazct/c No. IS of this year as follows, viz. :—Sub-section Xo. 1- —Metal pipe, axle arms, washing machines, paper cutting machines, boring machines, weighing m: !' chines, saw punch machines, lamppost?, sow springs. Sub-section iSo. 7. —Hats packed m hat cases, limejuice, soup and bouilli in tins, reserved tripe, preserved vegetables, paper collars. Sub-section -No. 11.—Salt, harness, liquid, paper.
