Tttk Stab of titk PoiTn. —This fine steamer tnkes her departure, on Saturday nest, for 'Napier, to take in shccji for I.y Helton. I'fr boiler which has recently been replied by Messis. Victory and Mascficld, was tested on "Wedno.-day, and everything proved satisfnetosy. The Anno Jlelhuish nnd Union have both entered out for 'Newcastle. The fine, cutter Loe, Lombard innstor, returned from Cubhage Bay yesterday with a cargo of timber. The clipper schooner Clyde airived last even ins from Mr. T. Craig's Raw-mills, at. Wnngnpon, with another carco of junk timber for the new wharf now in courfo of erection in Custonihoiii-e-strect. Tho Paucy Lass, Cnpt. brought up a cargo of 28,000 feet timber from Mercury Bay. She sailed from thence, on Wednesday morning, and strrived hero early yesterday rooming. The schooner Meteor had eommer.ccd loading when the Saucj Lnss sailed and will probably nrrivo here to-day. Tho schooner Kate Grant, Matzen master, arrived here from Wangarei yesterday morning, bringing up ten pussencer?, 1 ton oats, and two head of cattle She left "Wnnparci at ten am. on "Wednesday and arrived here at 7 a.m. yesterday. After landing her passengers she proceeded to tho Tnmald to discharge her rattle and afterwards returned lo the harbour. The schooner Industry, Cake master, arrived from Grent Omali yesterday morning, bringing- up a cargo of firewood. She reports that tho Argo bad arrived on Monday last, and was to sail for Auckland on Wednesday. The Ptohm Bran.—lbis vessel came oil" the Company's Slip, on Tuesday morning lust, having undergone a thorough overhaul. She went alongside the Mnnulcnvi, and having- coaled, proceeded yesterday to Evans' Bay to adjust her compasses. She returned to the wharf at G p.m., and sailed for Wanganui. shortly afterwards. r Jho S-tonn Tsird, we understand, ■will take the place, and -perform the services of tho Rangatirn on the West Const, the latter vessel performing that of the lady Bird on the East Coast. The lady Bird is now b-ing inspected, and will be ready for sea in about a fortnight. Her b'ilers have been examined by Mr. >'ancariow, and have been found to be on tbe whole in good preservation, although a few slight repairs arc necessary. The Chanmnn left Grnve.-ond on Sunday tbe 19th February, nnd anchored in the Downs en tho 22nd, left again on Thursday tlie 25th, and experienced bad weathear during the' iun down channel, which she finally cleared on the 2nd March. In the bay of B Feay the Chapman again fell in with a beuvy gale, which las ted 12 hours the vessel shipping a quantity of water. Purinp- this gale two cases of acid which were on deck commenced leaking, and for the safety of the ship were thrown overboard. The lino wns crossed on the 20th March, in longitude 2f> ° west. Fnssed the meridan of the Cape oil the 27th April in latitude 40 ° south. On tbe 24th May, passtd between two large icebergs. Sighted tbe coast of Kew Zealand on t>e 2nd hist., and arrived ;ik above. The Chapman brinsrs a larpe nnd miscellaneous carfio, five saloon and four second class passengers, of whom the following are tbe nimics :—Mr., Mrs., nnd Mi-s Baiinntync, Jliss Stable, Sir. She. left Alaro.'i finally en Friday about' 2 p m., and was delayed for a couple of hours at tho beads by a slight accident to her machinery, getting to ecu abrut 4 pm., and arriving in the roadstead at -1 am. as above. He states that it was very clear, and made its appearance about every two minutes. THE SCFOOIvEK, The fine schooner Ivanhce, C'apt. McGregor, returned from early yesterday morning, with seven tons gum. She lift Aiuhiancl last 1 uesday week, with 37 immigrants, and during the passage elown encountered a very heavy wetterly gale, and high confused sea, during which her jib-boom was carried away. She arrived at l£crgomii on Sunday last, having been five doys at sen, and disembarked the whole of her passengers in safety. On Llo/iday evening last fche failed from thcr.ee for Auckland, and experienced strong south-west winds throughout the passage, arriving here at daybreak yesterday morning. There were no -whalera at Hongonui when the Ivanhoe saL'ed. AEBITAL OF THE TVAITF.MATA. The steam ferry "U'liitemata, Captain Martin, returned from the Kawau early yesterday morning, and resumed her usual ferrirs to the-Aorlh Shore. &he left Auckland for the Kawau on Wednesday evening, havirg on benrd, as passerger, llr. ]\'ogan, who conveyed some important despatches to His Excellency tho Governor. The "Waitemata made a good run down of only four hours. 15 —Excelsior, f>2 tons, Ivcrson, from Taranaki, in ballast.—D. Kirkwood, agent. Tho schooner Fairj-, Capt. Davifs, for Taranaki, has cleared out with a general cargo and will leave as Foon as the weather permits. The s.s. Ahuriii and ?.s. Alexandra, both for Taranaki or Wanganui, had not left the, harbour last evening. Tt is probable, they will take their departure this morning. The schooner Fxcelsior, Capt. Tverson, arrived at Poponga from Tnrana'ci on Wednesday nionmig and come up the harbour late the same evening. She experienced rough weather on her passage up from Tarnnnki The Thnno of Fife, for Waikato, and tho Phnmroi'k, for Ilobarl Town, are expected to leave in flic course of a few days.
