PUBLICMEETING, DRURY.—THEMONTHLY MARKET.
The adiourned meeting of the settlers interested in establishing a eattlo yard, and monthly sale, -was held hero yesterday, at the Great South. Boad Hotel. The nueting was thinly attended, and upon the motion of Mr. Rhodes, seconded by Mr. James Runciman, Mr. Alexander McDonald, Pukekohe, was voted to the chair; -when the minutes of the last meeting were read, and confirmed. He aIEO regretted to see Mr. Crisp was not present at that or a former meeting, but ho had no doubt but Mr. Crisp could satisfactorily name thecause which prevented his absene* had hebeen there. The Chairman alluded to the state of the funds, remarking that from the number of collectors whoso books were produced, there appeared a marked increase in the way of voluntary contributions, and thought that stepn should at once be taken for advertising for tenders to complete the cattle yard, as well as preparing plans and specifications of the same. He reviewed at some length the advantages of getting the matter at once put in train, and after soma further remarks, proposed, " That a meeting of tha committee should take place on next "Wednesday, for tho purpose of settling all matters in connection with the cattle yard." The motion was then seconded by Mr. Charles Raven, and carried. Mr. Rhodes. Honorary Secretary and Treasurer, then read the subscription lists produced by Dr. "Walker, medical officer for the emigrants at Drury, Mr. Raven, Great South Road Hotel, Mr. Barns, Pukekohe, and Mr. Alexander McDonald, from which list it appeared that since last meeting twenty-lwo pounds ten shillings bad been collected, making up to the present the amount of £63 10s. Mr. James Rvncvsian then showed a rough sketch of the cattle yard, and after some conversation it was decided that tho sketch should be submitted to tha committee on next sitting day for their approval. Mr. Edytabd Rhodis proposed, and Mr. Charles Raven Eeconded, "That at the_ next meeting tenders bo invited for the erection of the eattlo yard, and that the vlans and specifications of the 1 same be ready at the time for inspection at the store I of Mr. Bhodes." 11 was also decided that one or two notices should | appear in one of the local papers in connection with ! the tenders for the erection of tha cattle yard, as well | as that notices should bo put up at Papakura, Drury, and the Mauku, in connection with the same matter. i Mr. Rhodes thought sufficient time was not named for the adjourned meeting, and proposed that instead, of the meeting taking place on Wednesday, June tha 21st, it should take place on "Wednesday, June the ! 28th, at the Great South Boad Hotel, at 1 p.m. This amendment was seconded by Mr. Habbi3, Pukekohe. On being put to the meeting it was unanimously passed. ____„_^____^_
