KAWHIA.

TVe are informed by a gentleman lately returned from this place that the natives are in a verr excited state, and that in a long conversation he had with the chief Buddie, the latter staled that any white men found in that locality would be put to death, and although Mr. Kirkwood of {he Excelsior, -who took the escaped Eawau prisoners to Kawhia, is a great favourite with the natives at that place, and was verykindly treated while there, he was told not to return, as that if he did, he and his vessel would be seized. They say they will not again ineefc the soldiers in any open engagement, but gO about in small parties and do all the mischief they can, as was done in Scotland, in the days of Wallace and in the commencement of Brace's career. Some one appears to have translated Burns' addresses to Lis countrymen to them.
