EMBARKATION OF TROOPS FOR WANGANUI.
At the moment when the safety of the North hangs upon a thread—when the very removal of troops may precipitate the ruin of the finest district of Jeiv Zealand—when the returned Ngatimaniapotos with Rewi at their head .are ready to burst upon the Waikato—at this moment when the presence of armed men were never more needed than now, the troops are being drained away to open a new campaign in "Wanganui, in reality to consume the mutton and beef of the supporters of the Ministry and friends of those supporters, in the Province of Wellington.
Yesterday, the 'Falcon' and 'Eclipse' steamed from the Bluff in the Manukau. the former at 11 a.m., llie latter at noon, having on board 500 rank and file of the 50th regiment in command of Col. Waddy. The p.s. ' Prince Alfred' and the p.s. ' Sandfly,' as tenders to the above also left the Manukau shortly afterwards. To-day a further detachment of 220 men of the same regiment, together with the headquarters will leare the Manukau for the same destination, Wanganui.
