AUCKLAND. WEEKLY TRADE SUMMARY. December 10. Bunmoss during tlio last week has been rather quiet, the present sessions taking the greatest share of attention of our mercantile community. Of auction sales thero were only very few, and private transactionswere beyond a few cocsidorable purchasers of rum and tobacco, only limited to immediate trade requirements. Not a little astonishment and dis>satisfaction was generally felt at the cliango of our tariff, and the heavy iucreaso of duties in general must certainly have the effect of only very limitod purchases for some] time, as consumers will cortainly move off their old stocks before making any fresh purchases. Flour.—Thero is no change whatever in this article ; no sales at any prico havo taken placc, and prices have not undergone any alteration. Sugar. —There is still a fair demand for this article, specially for Company's No. 1, and browu Mauritius sugars, which are very scarce. Wo have had a little supply of crushed loaf which was roadily sold ut 6id. to 6?d.

Tea.—A few sales havo taken place, and priceß obtained wore at a slight advance to our previous quotations- Good Congou in chests and half chests are much in request, and when offeriug are easily disposed of. Oilmen's Stores.—There is a fair demand for theso goods ahdpricesnre certainly much bettcrtlianwe have lately been accustomed to. Bottled fruit is very scarce, and is now worth 17s. Gd. to 18s. perdoz. lleßt brand pickles aro in fair demand, at 10s. 9d. to lis. Jams, 13s. 6d. to 14s.

Alo and Porter.—Good alo in bulk ia enquired for at £6 15s to £7, but very little being at present in the market, and the duty considerably increasod, we may anticipate a rise. Ale and porter in glass is in fair demand, and several parcels liave changed hands at fair prices.

Wines and Spirits.—These articles havo been rather dull, beyond a few trifling sales of champagne, •which is rather scarce. Claret and summer wines in general are slightly enquired for, but spirits of every description are all dull of sale. Tobacco and Cigars.—ln these goods there is but little or no change. There has been a considerable speculative purchase of negrohead and tens, but prices havo not transpired. tiwiss cigars aro slightly enquired for, but we know not of any being in tlio market.

On Saturday about 80 horses were brought forward, of which number one half were sold; a large portion of them were medium sized draught stock; the owners of which are seeking higher prices than purchasers think warranted, and in consequence the greater number of horses of this class was withdrawn ; seven were s 'Id and brought from £34 to £57 10s. each.
