Per Sa'amander, from Newcastle :—293 head cattle 30 pigs, order. ARRIVAL OF THE SALAMANDER FROM NEWCASTLE. The fino Auxiliary steamship Salamander, Capt. Clarke, arrived in harbour yesterday morning, after a capital run of eight days from Newcastle, N.S.W. She sailed on Sunday, the 20th inst., and had moderate North and North Easterly weather across to tie Phreo Kings, which were sighted on Saturday last at noon. The passage from Newcastle to the Kings was made under sail alone, but the wind being light and baffling on this coast, she steamed from thence to Auckland. No vessels wore sighted. The Salamander brings 298 head of the finest cattle ever yet imported into Auckland, and looking at the excellent condition in which they have arrived, it shows that great pains have beeu taken in tending them, and reflects great credit on all concerned. She lias also on board a race horse and 30 pigs, only two head of cattle were lost in the passage, and those through injuries received during shipmont. We have to thank Capt. Clarko for full files of Sydney papers. The barque Sir George Grey, Captain Barron, sailed from Newcastle for this port on the 18th inst., with 7GO tons coal, and 37 casks coal tar. The barque H. L. Rutgers. Captain Howes, also sailed from Newcastle for this port on the 17th instant, with 177 head cattle, 7 horses, and 10 tons nay. The barques Kate Waters and Electa, with cattle, and Ann and Jane, with coals, were all loading for fsi^ or f en Salamander sailed. Rt M 6 IK T 'f E ' Captain Wilson, arrived Sa U a m >r 0m Valparaiso, on the 16th instant. H.M.S.S. Miranda, Captain Jenkins, hence the 31st lilt., arrived m Sydney on the 16th instant. Ihe barque Alice Cameron and brig Louis and Manan were still on the berth at Sydney for this port with despatch, on the 19tli instant. The schooners ffauranga and Surprise both cleared Tauranga yesterday, but did not get away last night m consequence of the strong north-easter which prevailed. Several other outward bound vessels wero also detained from the same cause. The schooner Vistula, Captain Smith, entered outwards yesterday for Newcastle, N.S.W. The s.s. Lord Ashley, Captain Randall, is due from the South this day. •
