The Te Papa Steeplechase, of 5 sovs. ; the horses to be ridden and owned by Maoris; 1 mile; catch weights. Eighth Race. The Forced Handicap, of 10 per cent, on the value of winnings ; 10 sovs. added, to be handicapped by the fctewards or whom they may appoint; beaten horses may enter on payment of 1 sov., to be added to the fund. No person can nominate or run a horse which is not tho bonajide property of a subscriber of £2 to the sports, and who is not himself a subscriber to that amount. The decisions of the Stewards will be final. Scaled entrances, with colors of the riders and entrance money to be made to the Secretary at the Custom House before 6 p.m., on the 7th of December, 1864. Any person gallopping his horse over the flat or steeplechase course alter the above mentioned time, will be disqualified from running at the meeting. Each boat is to keep its true and straight course during every part of a race, and tho "Umpire shall be sole judge of the coursc. 2nd. If the Umpire be unable to decide which boafc has committed a foul, the race shall be rowed over again. 3rd. It is the provinco of the "Umpire, when appealed to, but not before, to decide a foul, and tho boats decided by him to have committed a foul, shall be distanced. 4th. Tho decision of the "Umpire shall in all caaes bo final, and any competitor refusing to abide thereby shall be distanced. sth. The decision of the Committee with regard, to tho desi»nation of boats, and all other matters, except those referred to in the preceding Rules, shall 3 final. RULES FOR SAILING BOATS. Ist. A boat on the port tack shall give -way to one the starboard tack. 2nd. A boat sailing free to give way to one close hauled. 3rd. Two boats closo hauled on the same tack standing in to the shore, should the leeward boat find it absolutely necessary to tack to prevent going j ashore, and has not rot in to do so, without fouling tha i windward boat, it must hail the latter to that effect, ! and the windward boat must either ta.ck herself or . pass to leeward of the other.
