His sire, that far-famed horse old " Matchless" the property of Mr. Daek, of Lincolnshire, which horse is the sire of more stallions than any horse in England. Grandsire "Active," the Champion of England he having won 17 agricultural prizes. " Matchless's " dam, a splendid bay mare, by Mr. 3 Eno's noted brown horse "Honest Tom," which was allowed to be the b«st that travelled in his daT. 0 It will be seen from this pedigree that " Matchless " is descended, on both sides, from the verv besi n breed of cart horses in England, and cannot fail in getting horses of the lu'ghest value fcr agricultural j. and dray purposes. "Matchless" was shown jt the Peterborough • 0 Agricultural Show when a yearling, and obtained the first- prize, beating five others ; ho also was shown la at Peterborough Entire Horse Show, and obtained the prize. Again, at Peterborough, in 1862, he took the prize, beating six others; and again, at Peterborough, in October ISG3, he took the fiwt prize of ie £20, beating a large field of his class—thus proving himself to be on« of the best horses that England can y produce.
