THE PANAMA, NEW ZEALAND. AND AUSTRALIAN ROYAL MAIL COMPANY.
The Inter-colonial I?oval Mail Company, which has now assumed the designation of the " Panama. New Zealand and Australian Poyal Mail Company," have made several additions to their steam fleet on the faith of (he recognition by the Colony of the Panama contract entered into by themselves with Mr. Crosbie Ward. The " Egmont,' of sl(> tons. IDO horse-power, brig rigged, and carrying to first-class and 35 second-class passengers may be expected to arrive here during the present month. The ' Egmont ' has a speed of ll knots, and a fine full poop 50 feet feet in length. A second steamer, the ' Pangitoto,'has been built for the Company by Mr. Laurie, the builder of the • Otago,' and will be ready in December. She is intended to be in all respects as ellicient; and speedy a vessel as the " Otago.' Another first-class steamer of similar capacity is reported to be in progress. We also learn that the three 1500 ton steamships, as stipulated for by the Panama contract, are to be ready at the end of the year, and that the fourth ship for the Panama line is in process of building a.nd will follow in due course.
