He was bred by Edmund Aiding, Esq., Ratfin, Amcshury, Wiltshire, England; sire, the celebrated Suffolk horse " Boxer" (winner of three successive first prizes of the Royal Agricultural Society of England); grand-sire, " Rob Roydam, "Sober," by the celebrated horse " Pride of Suffolk grand-dam, " Lady Mary." " Major" won the first prize of £25 at the meeting of the Royal Agricultural Society of England at Canterbury, July 18, being then two years old. Ho was selected and purclinscd by Thos. Crispe, Esq., of Batley Abbey, Suffolk, for R. Q. Kermodc, Esq., of Mo mi Yale, near Hobart Town, Tasmania. He won the first prize at the Society's show at Campbell Town, 1861, for the best imported draft stallion in the colony; anil lie won the samo prize in the Society's show, held at Longford, in 18G2. " Major" will stand thf3 season at the Junction Hotel, oil Tuesday, Friday and Saturday; at Otahuhu, at Mr. John Hall's, on Monday and Thursday ; and nt Pa-nimne, at Mr. Browne's, on Wednesday, in each week. Terms, for the season :—Single mares, £7 10s. ; two or more, £7 each. Groomage, at time of service, ss. each mare. "PUIS C E." THE FIRST-CLASS IMPORTED HEAVYDRAUGHT CLYDESDALE ENTIRE " PRINCE.'' The " Prince" is a beautiful black, stands lGi hands high, lias splendid action, and beautiful proportion. He was bred by Robert Hutchison, Esq., of Craigsland, Dundonald, Ayrshire, Scotland; sire, the celebrated Clydesdale "Prince Albert;" grandsire, " Fulton's Clyde ;" great grandsire, Frame's "Old Champion." Dam, by " Clydesdale's Rival." He was selected (after winning, at three years old, one first and three second prizes) and imported to Victoria, where he won two champion cups and two gold medals, besides several local prizes. He served three seasons most successfully in Victoria, his stock proving him one of the best sires ever imported to the colonies. The " Prince " will stand nt the Junction Hotel on Wednesday and Saturday; at Otahuhu, on Tuesday and Friday; arid Panmure, on Monday and Thursday in each week. Terms for the season:—Single mares, £6 IOs.; two or more, £G eacli; groomage at time of service, •'«. each mare. "IRON D U K E." THE CELEBRATED IMPORTED HEAVY DRAFT STALLION "IRON DUKE." " Iron Duke " is a dark grey or brown, stands 17 hands high, bred by Mr. Towshend, of Stonev Staunton, nearly Hinckley, England; sire, "King Charles," dam, " Flora," which took the second prize at the liny ill Agricultural Society's Exhibition at Shrewsbury, ami the first prize at the Northampton Exhibition of the sime society t as well as at the Provincial Exhibition of Leicester, Rugby, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, and Hinckley. Her first foal "The Black Prince," (half-brotherto tile " Iron Duke") at three years old took the first prize for dray horses at the Royal Agricultural Society's Exhibition at York, and in the same year he won the Highland Agricultural Society's Silver Medal at Edinburgh. " Iron Duke" was exhibited and won the first prize at the meeting of the Leicester Agricultural Society, against all horses, when hardly two years old. He won the prize for the best imported heavy draft horse at Maitland, in New South Wales. " Iron Duke" will stand tliis season at the Junction Hotel, on Monday and Thursday; Otahuhu, Wedticsdaj- and Saturday ; and Panmure, on Tuesday and Friday in each week. Terms for the season :—Single mares, £6 10s; two or more, £G each ; groomage, ss. Mares not proving in foal to the " Duke" from last year will have services this year at half-price, and if put to either " Major" or " Prince" will be allowed £2 at the liirio of payment. Mares to bo served either hobbled or loose, at the option of the groom. Mares not stinted towards the end of the season tnay change to either of the other horses as the owner may choose. All payments to be made on or before the 12tli January, 1865. Three Prize Cups (one for the stock of each horse), first prize, value £20; second prize, £10; third A's each, will be given to be competed for at the Junction Sale Yards, on a day to be named in November, 18G6, when tlic foals will be about a year old. MATCHLESS is a beautiful brown, aged 5 years, stands 16 hands 3 inches high, upon remarkably frhort legs, possessing immense power and substance ; whilst for symmetry and activity he stands unrivalled, with fine constitution and excellent good temper. His sire, that far-famed horse old "Matchlcss," tho property of Mr. Daek, of Lincolnshire, which horse is the sire ot more stallions than tiny horse in England. Grandsire " Active," tho Champion of England, lie having won 17 agricultural prizes. " Matchless's " dam, a splendid bay mare, by Mr. Eno's noted brown horse "Honest Tom," which was allowed to be the b-st that travelled in his dav. It will be seen from this pedigree that " Matchless " is descended, on both sides, from the very best breed of cart horses in England, and cannot fail in getting horses of the highest value for agricultural and dray purposes. " Matchless" was shown at the Peterborough Agricultural Show when a yearling, and obtained the tirsfc prize, beating five others ; he also was shown at Peterborough Entire llorso Show, and obtained the prize. Again, at Peterborough, in 1562, he took the prize, beating six others; and again, at Peterboiough, in October 150.,, he took the first prize of £20, boating a large field ot his class—thus proving himself to be one of the beit horses that England can produce. " Matchless' will stand at the following stations:— Wednesday and Thursday, Newmarket Hotel; Monday and Tuesday, Mr. Rickitt's stable, Otahuhu; 1< nday and Saturday, Whau Hotel: and Mr. John McLeod's, Henderson's Mill, Great Is orth Road.
