A mkf.Tino of tbo local committee of the Industrial Exhibition wi.s held in Mr. King's oflice, 011 Saturday aftejnoon. Xo members wore present hut. Major Ileaphy, Mr. Ilarrop, and Mr. King. The correspondence received since the last meeting was read by the Secretary. It consisted of letters from the secretary of the Inhibition at Dnnedin, stating that space had been allotted for the Auckland contributions to the extent of 1,200 square feet, as applied for, and the Auckland Committee were to hold (hemselves responsible that this should be worthily filled. A report was forwarded by the Dunedhi police showing the amount of hotel and boarding-house accommodation available for visitors and exhibitors, by which it appears 1956 persons can he accommodated in the first and G37 in the latter, at a tariff of prices which it wits stated would be strictly adhered to. An agreement has been sinned by the agents of the Intercolonial Royal Mail Steam Packet Company, the Melbourne, Adelaide, and Kcw Zealand Steam Ship Companv, the Tasmanian t-'feam Navigation •"ompanv, and the Xow Zealand Steam '(Navigation Company to take passengers for one fare, and goods for one freight from their respective points of departure to Dniicdin and back. A circular was re
giving full details of the proposed Intercolonial show of live stock, intended to bo held in (lie grounds of the Exhibition Building on the opening week. There was a letter from his Honor the .Superintendent forwarding a chorine lor tiio .CIOO that had heen asked for to ever the espouses. Mr. King, in reference to this, l cgrctted that no one had yet availed themselves of the pecuniary assistance that had been offered by the Committee towards the expense of procuring o forwarding subjects l'or exhibition. Since their la.st meeting there hail heen some applications for space, but verv few, and he believed the only way to get anything would be for each member of the Committee to'go round and personally solicit contributions. There was no time to lose as the lists must he given in as earlv as possible, so as to be included in Ihe oflicial catalogue. The Horticultural Society had determined to hold a flower show on the 24th of November, and as from the circumstances of the past year it was not, probable that the show would be of an extent or character to attract a very large unrulier <;f visitors it hail struck him that it would bo highly desirable if an exhibition of the articles about to be sent to Dunedin were held in conjunction with it. This was acceded to, and Mr. Jfnrrop was requested to try and obtain a suitable room for the purpose. It was staled that they were to get the articles asked for from the Museum, and a model of the Tamaki Bridge had been promised by Mr. Weaver. Major JJcaphy handed in a list of geological diagrams h intended to send, viz., llangitoto Crater (2), Jntomittent Boiling Spring, Itoturua Lake ; Bream Heads, Wangarci: Mount Kgmont; Brown's Island ; Thames Gulf. The Secretary was instructed to make the necmsary arrangements for the Exhibition on the 21th November, and the Committee adjourned.
