He won the lirst prize at the Society's show at Campbell Town, IS(H, for.tlie best imported draft stallion in the colony; and lie won the same prize in the Society's show, liekl at Longford, in 1862. " Major" will stand this season at the Junction Hotel, on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday; at Otahuhu, at Mr. John Hall's, on Monday and Thursday ; and at l'anmure, at Mr. Browne's, on Wednesday, in each week. Grandsire "Active," tho Champion of England lie having won 17 agricultural prizes. " Matchless's " datn, a splendid bay mare, by Mi Eno's noted brown horse " Honest Tom," whici was allowed to be the b-st that travelled in liis day. It will be seen from this pedigree that "Match less " is descended, on both sides, from tho very bes breed of cart horses in England, and cannot fail ii getting horses of the highest value for agricultura and dray purposes. "Matchless'' was shown at tho Peterborougl Agricultural Show when a yearling, and obtainec the lirst- prize, beating live others ; he also wasshowi at Peterborough Entire Horse .Show, and obtainvt the prize. Again, at Peterborough, in ISG:2, ho tool the prize, beating six others; and again, at Peterborough, in October 18(53, lie took tho first prize o £'UO, beating a large field of his class—thus proviui himself to be one of tho best horses that England car produce.
