The sale of the Defence Foroo hor.-ea was very numerously attended, they averaged £1-3 each, varying from £0 to £'10. The market has been fully supplied with fat. cattle of good quality, prices are without alteration. The circumstance which has influenced the share market for several days is still in operation and, until the result of the 51 inistcrial crisis is ascertained little lifo is expected in the various departments. Even tlinn any great expansion of speculative business is considered doubtful; and in the meantime the market remains quiet, as well as inactive. Bank of New Zealand shares are a shade firmer, it having been rumoured that notwithstanding the losses incurred in the South, the profits of the past halfyear, considerably exceed any previous peiiod, and that probably a dividend at tlio rate of ios. per cent, will be declared, and a considerable "sum carried to the reserve lund. Other securities remain without alteration.
