Correspondence.
To tho Editor of the New Zealand Herald. Slit, —I bog to call your attention to certain inaccuracies made in tho publication of that letter which I sent yon respecting a railroad through the North Island of this Colony. You represent me us "W. Bayly, Surveyor." 1 am not a surveyor, consequently, .1 am, in duty bound, in honour to that profession, to request that you will correct that errata. In lieu of 17,P00ncres, itsliouldread thus—l79,2oo acres of rebel land. In lion of the extra 1,200 men, it should read thus—The extra 12,000 men would require more land. In conclusion, "SV. Bayly, Surveyor, should read thus —W. Bavlv, senior. I am not surprised at your making errata in your paper, but I aui surprised at tho mild tone of expression in your journal respecting tho new despotic- doctrine from tho Homo Secretary iuhl our model Governor. I trust the Colony will ilin'g the guarantee of tho one million loan in Mr Cardwell'.s face, and let tho Home Government suspend the Constitution of tho Colony, rake England to find another mad I-'it/.roy to settle their own blundering war, pay the r.rpetiw.s, and give the settlers no more abuse fur desiring to tal<o Cannibal's J,and. I remain your obedient servant, "\V. Bayly, son. New Plymouth, October 11, 1564.
