NGARUAWAHIA.
[I'ltO-U OCTK OWN COUUESI'ONDENT.] j October fi. "With respect to the groat doubts entertained of the unsafe route by sailing vessels from Onehunga via 1110 Waikato Heads, ] can safely say, from experience, that tiny coasting captain from the above ports may look upon it in a dill'eicnt light to that generally entertained. I myself took my goods round to the Heads in tlie ' Daring,' schooner, Capt-. hverson, and with light winds, unfavouralile, and current against us, we beat in lmrbour greatly to the consternation and surprise of the too over careful inhabitants of that placc. The paid schooner has made a, trip from Onehunga and safely anchored at "Waikato in seven hours. The Government are carrying on boat-building to a great, extent here, making small diagonal boats into barges of 100 feet in length, by joining two together and giving an txtra amount of length to them. The'Avon'steamer has finished her repairs, and will leavo for Cambridge to-morrow morning, l-'riday, at 7 o'clock. A great amount of liny is passing this place for (lie various stations towards the front, particularly Te ltori and Te Awamutu. Private ImiHings aie going on here extensively. The river is very low just now, and the weather fine.
