The Native Rebellion.

RAGLAN. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] August 20. The Raglan Volunteers had a prize firing match a few days since. The points made were : Messrs. Macdonald, 23 ; R. Harsant, 36 ; and W. Wallis. 15, at 1, 2, and 300 yards; number of shots 9. The weather was extremely unpropitious, abominably cold, with heavy squalls of wind and rain. It would appear that the rebels at Kawhia are as full of bounce as ever. Karaka, Te Taniwha, Porauri, Pouka Neha, and other great guns, are busily engaged planting potatoes at Hikipareira, Wiremu Kumete's place. Waiherekeke is full of Ngatimaniupotos and others, engaged in the same labours. At this rebel paradise, they come and go as they please, without let or hindrance. Tlicy boast and swagger as loudly and as largely as ever. It is surely time that such scoundrels were taught that the arm of right and justice can reach them even here, secure as they think themselves. Those of the Kawhia natives who have gone south have not yet given in their adhesion to the " Gabrielites," as reported, hut have gone to judge for themselves what the destroying angel is equal to. If he perfoinis what the "Tohungas" promise, tlicy will join them. August 22. A large lot of looted horses came in to-day. They will be sold by public auction to-morrow. Some of them are pretty good specimens ; others of the value of their hides perhaps.
