MEXICO.
Si'irn-ofilriifl news received from Saltillo. the present sent oi the National Government of the Mexican Hepublic, dated tlic 22ud of March, states that A iciaurri's treason was confirmed. A idaurri had 2500 men at Monterey. General DoMado was marching with his forces from Saltillo to give hiin buttle. General Palloni is on his way from Dtirungo, at the head of a brigade, with the same object. The inhabitants of TS T neva Leon and Coabuila acknowledged President Juarez's authority, and -were raising large forces to subduo Vidaurri's rebellion. A\ lien that is accomplished, the Mexican Government will have about. 10,000 men ready to march, upon Han Luis i.'outsi and.capture that city. General Diaz hail 8000 men perfectly well organised under his command. The French thought the fore o ol sucli importance that General JJazaine is going in person. The French have been driven from the States of Chiapas and Tabuco, as well as from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. Oolina lias been occupied by General Douay, who was known to have left Guadalajara with 2000 men for tiiis purpose. -Admiral ilouet has not returned yet from San Bias, and we are therefore still ignorant whether Mazatlan and Mazanillo have been occupied* His return will bo the signal for landing some Frenchroops at Acapulco, which are expected by one of the transports of the iteet. Ola Juan Alvarez will not listen to the overtures made In- the regency, and has declared that lie will oppose the descent of F.-eneh troops from the interior, considering them the enemies oi' his country; thus General -Ytnu'iics will be obliged to defend Tintla' against Vicario. Private letters from Oajaca state that General Perfirio JJiaz has command of the city with upwards of 0000 men, and that lie is confident of being able to defend the State against the French forces who are now moving against lnm. Anyhow, Diaz will be able to make good his retreat at any time, the States of Guerrero and Chiapas being just as hostile to tile -livery day furnishes further evidence that 30,000 French ;md 10 000 reactionary troops are unable to subdue the Liberal party. A conquest by arms without gaining sympathy will never terminate this war. The former may be carried through in a year or two ; the latter is impossible.
