Islands and became waterlogged and heeled over, tiie crew took to the rising, several were washed away, but the the remainJor returned to ihe deck°to undergo the far greater horrors of famine. Ultimately tiie survivors of the crew, reached one of the L'Vegee islands, having sutlercd most fearful hardships. The birlhday balis, both in Sydney and Melbourne, liad been splendid affaire; about fifteen hundred attended the ball at Cxovernment House, Melbourne, aud though crowded, it was a great success. The Victorian Parliament had been prorogued on (ho :2nd; the Governor in his speech, congratulated the Assembly on the state of the revenue. A general election will take place, and the Assembly will bo called together early for the sake of passing the estimates, before January neit. Plouro-pemimonia is already beginning to fulfil the prophecy concerning it, that its attacks would be less and less felt each year from its commencement. "We observe that the ' Charlotte Andrews,' the 'Louis and Miriam.' and the 'Alice Cameron, ' arc ou the berth for Auckland— the ' Charlotte ' being announced to clear on the u'th.
